2021 Lexus IS: Stylish style for Lexus' new luxury sedan
June 23 2020, Lexus Laval
The Lexus IS has always been synonymous with performance, refinement, luxury and cutting-edge technology. Its style has allowed it to stand out over the years in the face of a competition which, although interesting, lacks a bit of visual punch. For 2021, the Lexus IS is getting a makeover by retaining its dynamic lines and aggressive style but adding a touch of elegance that will appeal to both current Lexus IS owners and consumers looking for a new luxury sedan.
The 2021 Lexus IS offers several innovations including the new philosophy "Lexus driving signature". This is a renewed approach to driving that aims to further strengthen the bond between the driver and the car, increasing the feeling of control of the person behind the wheel and ensuring precise and linear performance. The philosophy was born at the Toyota Technical Center and more precisely on the test track of the center. It’s where Lexus’s engineers fine-tuned the drive to achieve unmatched levels of detail. All new Lexus models will be entitled to this new driving philosophy, but the 2021 Lexus IS is the first of the lot.
Under the hood, the 2021 Lexus IS returns with the same engines as the old generation. These engines have proven their reliability and quality over time, and it was natural that Lexus would trust them again. We're talking about two engines, the first being a 241-horsepower, 258 lb-ft of torque four-cylinder turbo with Atkinson Cycle paired with an 8-speed automatic in entry-level models. Next is a 3.5-liter V6 engine developing 260 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Lexus IS 350 AWD offers the same engine, but with 311 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque.
The 2021 Lexus IS also gets an all-new, optional 10.3-inch interior display, which adds a lot of character to the interior while simplifying the controls of the infotainment system. The other new feature is the all-new Lexus Safety Sense 2.5 system, which includes several improvements, including a more efficient radar for the frontal collision prevention system, which ensures better detection, day and night, as well as pedestrians and cyclists as well as vehicles. The system includes an adaptive cruise control that can operate up to 50 km/h.
The new 2021 Lexus IS offers everything the old IS offered while improving key safety and performance elements while giving the Lexus compact car even more style.
