Several Changes for the 2017 Lexus IS in Laval
For 2017, the Lexus IS receives several mid-generation changes to ensure that it remains up to date. Visually, the new 2017 IS receives an even more imposing and distinctive spindle grille, new LED headlights and a revised front bumper. In the back, the exhaust tips have a new shape while the taillights get a new design.
Inside, the 2017 Lexus IS also receives a few new features, including an optional 10.3-inch screen for the infotainment system.
Another important new feature is the addition of Lexus Safety System+, a set of active safety systems now standard on all versions of the 2017 IS. The Lexus Safety System+ includes a collision detection system capable of recognizing cars, but also pedestrians, and activating the brakes if the driver does not react to the presence of the obstacle. Also included in the Lexus Safety System+ technology is a lane departure prevention system with steering assist and adaptive cruise control.
A Wide Choice of Engines for the 2017 Lexus IS
In the entry-level luxury sedan segment, consumers like to have several engine choices. In that regard, Lexus is certainly ahead of several competitors given that the new 2017 IS offers three engine choices.
The standard engine is a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that develops 241 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. This engine powers the IS200t ($40,150) and is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The last two gears are mainly used to reduce fuel consumption, while the first six deliver the power to the rear wheels.
Then comes the 3.5-liter V6 engine that propels the IS 300 AWD. The latter develops 255 horsepower and 236 lb.-ft. of torque that are sent to all four wheels. The IS 300 AWD is available starting at $42,950.
The top model in the 2017 IS family is without a doubt the IS 350 AWD offered starting at $53,350. This model is powered by the same V6 engine that is also found in the IS 300, but the power increases to 306 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque.
