2017 Lexus RX: Popular for a Reason
December 12 2016, Lexus Laval
The 2017 Lexus RX is one of the most popular luxury compact SUVs in its segment year after year. If the Japanese SUV has maintained its position at the top for so long, it’s because it offers a perfect balance of comfort, safety and performance, not to mention that it is also one of the most reliable models in its segment. Last year, the Lexus RX underwent a complete overhaul to make it even more impressive.
Powerful and Efficient Engines for the 2017 Lexus RX
Available starting at $55,800, the Lexus RX 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine developing 295 horsepower. This engine allows the RX to offer high performance in all circumstances, both in the city and on the highway. The 2017 RX also responds quickly as soon as you press the right pedal while still being very comfortable and very quiet. The power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission that works silently while being fluid when it changes gears.
With its all-wheel drive, the RX 350 is safe and stable at all times, regardless of road conditions. It is also possible to modify the driving behavior of the RX thanks to three driving modes offered on the luxury SUV - Normal, Eco and Sport S. If you choose the F Sport Series 3 package, you also get a Sport S + mode along with a custom mode which allows the driver to choose how various components will operate.
With the Eco mode, the 2017 Lexus RX becomes even more fuel-efficient. In addition, the RX 350 only requires regular gasoline. That said, if saving fuel is important to you, you can always opt for the Lexus RX 450h, one of the only luxury compact hybrid SUVs currently on the market. The RX 450h is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine with an Atkinson Cycle combined with two electric motors. The result is a total of 308 horsepower, but with an average fuel consumption of only 7.9 liters per 100 kilometers.
The 2017 Lexus RX: Safety is its Middle Name
Safety is paramount at Lexus, and the new 2017 RX is no exception. It comes standard with Lexus Safety System + which includes several active safety features such as automatic braking with pedestrian detection, lane departure warning with active assist, adaptive cruise control and a lot more.
In the passenger compartment, owners get a spacious cockpit for everyone in addition to a vast and generous trunk.
