2021 Lexus RX: Luxury and Performance, Assembled in Canada
April 20 2020, Lexus Laval
After receiving an update for the 2020 model-year, the Lexus RX is still the pinnacle of luxury in its segment. But besides the fact that its looks stand out of the pack and that its technologies and performances surpass any rivals on all angles, there’s one major reason for Canadians to love the RX: it’s assembled right here in Canada!
For 2021, we expect the RX to roll out with roughly the same great exterior features, such as the recently revised front and rear fascia, the triple-beam LED headlamps, distinctive Lexus hourglass-shaped grill and new 18 and 20-inch wheel designs.
Mechanically, the RX is expected to use the same state-of-the-art engine, along with the frugal yet very powerful hybrid options.
Powerful and green, the 2021 Lexus RX will get you on the move
The main engine for the RX 350 and 350L is a tested and true 3.5-litre V6 that pushes out 295 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission with steering-mounted shift paddles. Fuel consumption is conscious, with a city rating of 12.2 L/100 km and highway rating of 9.0 L/100 km.
The RX 450h and RX 450hL use the Hybrid Drive system that pairs a 3.5-litre V6 gasoline engine with two high-torque electric drive motor-generators. The result: a whopping 308 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy is nothing less than phenomenal, with a rating of 7.5 L/100 km and 8.4 L/100 km (city/highway), the Hybrid RXs are fast, and green!
Inside, the Lexus RX uses the best in terms of materials and textures. Drivers can use a standard 8-inch touchscreen dashboard display, or an available 12.3-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and help the driver and passengers make the best out of the ride.
With six USB ports throughout the RX, phones and tablets will never run out of juice. The 2021 RX will also feature the Enform Safety Connect system with access to a 24/7 Response Centre Agent who can provide assistance during an emergency.
Along with this, passengers can stay safe thanks to an extensive suite of standard advanced safety features like Lexus Safety System+ 2.0 (LSS+ 2.0) as standard with daytime bicyclist detection and low-light pedestrian detection along and Lane Tracing Assist (LTA).
