2021 Lexus RX vs. 2020 Acura MDX: Better Efficiency and Room to Grow

The 2021 Lexus RX is more efficient
The 2021 RX features two powertrains that range from gas-only to hybrid power. The RX 350 and 350 L share a 3.5-litre six-cylinder engine that outputs 295 horsepower in the RX 350 and 290 horsepower in the 350 L. The RX 450h and 450 L feature the Lexus Hybrid Drive system that combines the 3.5-litre engine with an electric motor. The system generates 308 net horsepower.
The MDX also offers two powertrains. All gas-only models receive a 3.5-litre six-cylinder that outputs 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, which has slightly less horsepower than the RX 350 and the same as the RX 350 L.
The RX 350 has a better highway fuel economy than the gas-powered MDX and manages to even have a slightly better city rating than most MDX models, too. The MDX has one hybrid powertrain that outputs a net 321 horsepower, which is slightly more than the RX hybrid models. But there's a strong catch, and we cover that next.
What sets the Lexus RX hybrid models apart from the MDX hybrid is fuel economy. The RX 450h has a fuel consumption rating of 7.5/8.4 L/100 km (city/highway) and 8.1/8.4 L/100 km for the 450h L. That's much better than the MDX hybrid's rating of 9.1/9.0 L/100 km. So if you want the best hybrid, Lexus is the way to go.
The 2021 Lexus RX features interior comfort
One of the most attractive features of the RX lineup is passenger comfort. The materials, quality of the finishings, and overall seating surpasses what you will find in the Acura MDX. Front seats in the RX 350 and RX 450h have some of the best legroom available at 1,120 mm. The MDX falls short at 1,051 mm.
