Lexus Establishes New Sales Record in 2019
February 03 2020, Lexus Laval
Now present in several markets around the world, Lexus has established a new sales record in 2019, with a total of 765,330 units sold around the world.
That’s a 10% increase compared to 2018, a result attributable to the arrival of the new Lexus UX subcompact crossover, the new generation of the Lexus ES sedan as well as the sustained popularity of the Lexus RX midsize crossover, which received a round of improvements for the 2020 model year.
If sales remained stable in North America with 325,000 units moving out of dealerships, Lexus enjoyed increases in many other markets, including China and Hong Kong (202,000 units, +25%), Europe (87,000 units, +14%), Japan (62,000 units, +13%), Middle East (32,000 units,+8%) and East Asia (34,000 units, +8%). In Canada, sales climbed 6% for a total of 25,540 units through 2019.
Lexus’ future is also interesting, as the brand is currently working on new hybrid powertrains, but also plug-in hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell and fully electric ones, too. Aside from the LF-30 performance concept vehicle unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Show in October 2019, the company announced the introduction of its very first EV, the Lexus UX 300e that’s reserved for Chinese, European and Japanese markets for the time being.
