Lexus NX450h+ vs. Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge: Trust the history behind the model
November 15 2021,
SUVs with gasoline engines that also guarantee electric range are becoming more and more common across the industry. Two of the models that have more recently entered the luxury vehicle world are the Lexus NX 450h+, and the Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge.
Let's take a look at what each one suggests, which will illustrate just how much more attractive the Lexus offering is.
The price
Let's start with the price, because it's striking. The Volvo XC60 T8 Recharge is priced from $68,800. At Lexus, it starts at $59,950. In the middle of the lineup, it's equivalent with bills of about $75,000 on each side. However, at the top of the hierarchy, the most expensive model marketed by both companies shows another significant disparity. The bill is $89,850 for a Polestar Engineered version at Volvo. It's $76,350 for a fully loaded F Sport 3 from Lexus.
Really, the difference is striking, and it's not as if you're being deprived of luxury features with the NX: it offers everything!
Range
With a plug-in hybrid SUV, what you want first and foremost is a decent range. With the NX 450h+, you get 61 kilometers of freedom, which is quite respectable. More than that, you can get more with a smooth ride.
At Volvo, we're talking about 31 kilometers. The company is preparing a new generation of batteries for its model, but even when these are in service, the capacity will climb to 51 kilometers.
Advantage: Lexus.
Reliability
When it comes to a Toyota or Lexus product, it is inevitable to talk about reliability. Within the Japanese group, everything that ends up on the market is thoroughly tested. We make sure that the proposed elements will be reliable, durable. The brand's reputation is at stake and so far, things are going quite well.
Volvo has made some progress, but frankly, no other manufacturer comes close to Lexus in this regard.
A plug-in hybrid SUV that's cheaper, just as luxurious, offers more range and is more reliable is basically what the NX 450 h+ delivers.
It's huge!
