Lexus RX-L: Lexus Adds an Extended Version to the RX in Los Angeles
November 30 2017, Lexus Laval
Lexus took advantage of the Los Angeles International Auto Show to unveil its all-new Lexus RX-L, a longer version of the popular Lexus RX that is designed to appeal to more customers that need more interior space. The Lexus RX was already very popular with luxury SUV buyers, but it's a safe bet that the RX-L version will bring even more families into the showrooms of the Japanese luxury automaker.
A standard third row on the Lexus RX-L
The big news with the Lexus RX-L is the third seat row that adjusts electronically and that is standard with the L model. With the Lexus RX-L, it's possible to seat seven passengers in complete comfort. That said, it is also possible if you want to opt for a configuration with captain seats in the second row to get space for 6 passengers, but easier access to the rear seats and a little more comfort in the second row.
All this is possible thanks to a total length that increases by 11 centimeters. It is interesting to note, however, that despite its larger length, the Lexus RX-L remains elegant and well proportioned. The addition of space at the back will have done nothing to harm its elegant style and luxurious silhouette.
As with the regular Lexus RX, two engines will be offered in the Lexus RX-L. The first is the same 3.5-liter V6 that propels the Lexus RX 350 and develops 295 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque. The second will be the same hybrid engine that powers the Lexus RX 450h.
Of course, all the driver assistance and connectivity technologies offered in the traditional Lexus RX will be available in the Lexus RX-L. With the latter, Lexus offers its customers an interesting option if we need a lot of space, but do not necessarily want a SUV too large.
