Three Things to Know About the 2021 Lexus GX460
October 19 2020, Lexus Laval
The Lexus GX460 is a monument within the Lexus range. It's been around for a long time, but it's not the most flamboyant model. However, it's one of the most underestimated in the lineup and certainly one of the most appreciated by those who know it. Here are three things to know about it as it returns unchanged for the new year.
1 - Off-Road Capabilities
The GX is part of Toyota's family of luxury products. As a result, you wouldn't imagine it overcoming the worst obstacles with an impressive amount of mud on its beautiful dress. Yet underneath it lies a Toyota Land Cruiser, a legend in the Toyota family. Moreover, south of our border, the Land Cruiser model is on the menu of the Japanese group. Thanks to a ladder chassis and a sophisticated 4x4 system, the GX can venture where the vast majority of SUVs only dream of putting a wheel. Among other things, it is equipped with off-road driving modes and side camera systems for optimal vision.
2 - Towing capacity
With any SUV, towing capacity is a consideration. Generally, throughout the industry, the standard is 3500 pounds for the smallest SUVs, 5000 pounds for the largest. It is estimated that these capacities meet 90% of the needs. However, what about those with heavier loads to pull? Here, the GX meets expectations with a capacity of 2,948 kg, or 6,500 pounds.
3 - Constantly refreshing safety features
The GX is considered by many to be an older model within the Lexus lineup. There's no denying that, as the current generation was introduced in 2008. However, a lot has happened since then, so when it comes to safety, it has been constantly updated over the years. Thus, it comes with the safety suite such as adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, parking sensors, in short, it sets an example in this respect.
