2022 Lexus NX
June 18 2021,
The Lexus NX was a hit from the moment it arrived in the Lexus lineup in 2015. The mid-size SUV struck a chord with buyers and everyone who discovered it was charmed.
For the second generation that was just introduced, the company is back at it with a more complete offering and a vehicle that has corrected its minor niggles; the result is frankly impressive.
Let's take a look at it.
First of all, in terms of design, we've kept what was working, with the Lexus signature grille and clean-cut lines; the NX still has an imposing presence. And what will make it even more visible on the road is that it will be offered in multiple configurations.
In fact, Lexus will offer four powertrains. That's two more than the current model.
First, the NX 250 will be equipped with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine that produces 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque.
The 350 version will be equipped with a 2.4-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that will deliver 275 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque.
That's for the gasoline engine versions only. For the other two models, the 350h and 450h+ are electrified. The former takes a more traditional approach with a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine offering 239 horsepower. The second version uses the same engine, a more powerful battery and electric motors to offer a 58-km range and all-wheel drive.
Interior
On board, we're treated to a nice evolution of the presentation. Above all, the NX will offer a new multimedia interface that promises simpler and more user-friendly access to functions. Depending on the model, we'll have 9.8- or 14-inch screens. Lexus has kept the climate control and radio controls very simple with traditional buttons. It will also be possible to connect wirelessly to your favorite applications, such as charging your cell phone without having to plug in a cable.
Security
On the safety front, there's another evolution of the Lexus system. LSS 3.0 adds several features, including: a system that allows doors to open and close at the touch of a button; a system that warns if a vehicle or cyclist is nearby to avoid impact.
F Sport models
Throughout the Lexus lineup, there are F Sport packages that add to the style and sportiness of the models, including an adaptive suspension. With the NX 2022, we'll be able to add this approach to two variants, the 350 and 450h+.
All in all, everything that was presented is very interesting. We can't wait to see the model in person. It will arrive towards the end of the year, or at the very least in the first few weeks of 2022.
