Lexus UX or Lexus NX: a heartbreaking choice
May 10 2022,
You're in the middle of shopping for your next Lexus vehicle. The first thing you need to know is that you've just made an excellent decision. There's nothing more reassuring than choosing a product that's going to provide you with all the comfort and luxury you're looking for, plus incredible peace of mind due to an equally incredible history of reliability.
But that doesn't solve your problem if you're on the fence about whether to buy a 2022 UX or a 2022 NX.
Here's a bit about what defines each model. The strengths of each, as well as their differences, will definitely help you make an informed decision.
The category
You probably know this, but the UX and NX fall into two different categories: subcompact SUVs and compact SUVs. No, there's not a huge difference between the two, but it can make all the difference; nuance!
The drive
With the UX, you get a small, agile and responsive SUV that will amaze you with its handling. It's nimble and agile and weaves its way through traffic like a mouse through a maze. With an NX, you get an SUV that's all about comfort. It's also very maneuverable, but it prefers more calculated changes in direction.
Powertrains
At the helm, you'll find proven and reliable engines everywhere. This is very different, however. With the UX, a single option provided by the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder and a hybrid approach. With the NX 2022, you have four options in front of you, two more regular (naturally aspirated or turbocharged), and two more hybrids (regular and plug-in).
The constant: excellent fuel economy across the board and reliable components.
Cargo volume
With the NX, the cargo volume that opens up behind the first row seats is 1328 liters. With the second row seats up, it's 643 liters. That's enough to cram in a lot of gear.
With the UX, it's 486 with the seats up, which translates into a generous trunk. The company doesn't specify the total capacity, but it's less than the NX, of course.
What's important to understand is that the UX gives you enough to meet your needs. Only you know if it's the higher capacity of an NX that you need, depending on your habits.
As for the rest, the quality is the same from one model to the other, the same kind of comfort offered by the seats, the same kind of quality of assembly and materials, in short, you are well served with both SUVs.
It's just important to identify your needs before proceeding. The good news is that you can't make a mistake here.
